Manufacturing designer Ruth De Jong has put in a home modelled on her set design for Jordan Peele’s movie Nope on the Chicago Architecture Biennial as a part of a sequence of installations exploring horror and structure.
The set up is a life-size recreation of the facade and entrance porch of a ranch house featured prominently within the film and explores “structure’s cinematic operate as a personality of its personal,” based on biennial curators The Floating Museum.
It consists of a facade going through a big display screen depicting a looped panorama scene from the horror film, by which a UFO descends upon a household ranch.
De Jong lined the home in a monochromatic white, save for purple film blood positioned in buckets on the entrance steps.
